Plant Testing Program

Each season, Cole Canyon Farm tests vegetable plants that may be added to our sales inventory in future years.  We ask gardeners in our sales area (Carmel Valley to Pleasanton in the East Bay up through San Francisco) to test these new plants (new to us) in gardens that are located in sunny, warm, inland locations as well as foggier, coastal sites.  The selected plants may be tested in ground gardens, in raised beds, and sometimes in containers.  All growers are asked to:

We select the plants to be tested and provide them to the growers.
If you would like to participate, please sign up for our monthly newsletter and stay tuned for our next call for Test Gardeners.  It is really fun, it is not a competition, and you get to eat the fresh, delicious produce that you grow from these plants.

Our Spring Plant Testing Program 2010 is underway and we are accepting no more participants.  Plants being tested include:

Winter Squash: American Tondo
Pumpkin:  Knuckle Head
Winter Squash:  Marina Di Chioggia
